How many instruments do you play?

I was a pianist first, starting lessons at age 3. It wasn’t until I got cast in my first actor/musician show, Honky-Tonk Highway in 1996, that I started to learn other instruments. Today I play proficiently on piano, guitar, accordion, and upright bass. I can play a little banjo and mandolin as well, and for fun I’ve taken up the bodhran (Irish frame drum)! My first and favorite instrument, though, is my voice. I never, ever feel more myself than when I’m singing the words of Jane Kenyon to the music of my dear friend, Graham Sobelman.

What's been your favorite role to date?

I’ve had the good fortune to play a lot of wonderful roles over the years! Probably the most fun, though, was the ten characters I got to play in Ebenezer Scrooge’s Big Playhouse Christmas Show at Bucks County Playhouse in December 2019. 14 costume changes in 75 whirlwind minutes! Yeehaw!

Who are your heroes?

Joni Mitchell taught me that songs can be deeply personal and intimate without being confessional. (She also taught me that I didn’t have to choose between my upper and lower register.)

Jane Kenyon taught me how to read and love poetry.
